Ruminants can synthesize microbial amino acids and microbial proteins from the non-protein nitrogen in ammonium chloride through a series of biochemical reactions, which can alleviate the shortage of protein feed to some extent and reduce the breeding cost.

 

Another important role of ammonium chloride in feed is to provide chloride and ammonium ions, which can regulate the acidity of feed and promote the growth of livestock and poultry. As a strong acid-weak base salt, excessive addition of ammonium chloride may lower rumen PH value and thus affect the activity of rumen microorganisms.
